We visited Kortepohja Primary School, Viitaniemi Lower Secondary School and the University of Jyväskylä. In the primary school we had a possibility to observe CLIL lessons and in the secondary school we saw English speaking classes. We were divided into three pairs and each focused on a different aspect:
1) Space – how is it arranged to facilitate learning?
2) Language support in CLIL (scaffolding) – how is it used?
3) Content and non-language skills – how are they taught?
After the study visit we developed presentations in order to share our knowledge with other students:
Reflections from the study visit: https://prezi.com/re_wmxxs_lgu/study-visit-in-finland/
Presentation about content and non-language skills: https://prezi.com/raclnxxdpcpc/content-and-non-language-skills/
During the study visit we also shared information about our programme with the students and professors from Finland (https://prezi.com/bm8clqb7lw36/bilingual-education/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy).
Thanks to this study visit we expanded our knowledge on CLIL teaching. Generally, it was a great and enriching experience.
