Panel Meeting – “New Directions in Teacher Education and the Role of Teaching Portfolio” – 24 April 2015

More than fifty headmasters, deputy headmasters, teachers and representatives of other educational institutions participated in the panel meeting entitled “New Directions in Teacher Education and the Role of Teacher Portfolio” which was organized by the Faculty of Education at Warsaw University on  24 April 2015.

The meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation between the university and primary schools. Dr Katarzyna Brzosko-Barratt and dr Magdalena Szpotowicz presented the “Graduate Programme in Teaching English to Young Learners,” emphasizing the multitude of competences developed by its graduates. As a result, many headmasters and teachers expressed their willingness to host trainee students for practicum in their schools.
The speaker who presented the subject of content and language integrated learning was Rosie Tanner, a renowned expert in the field of CLIL methodology. Her workshop engaged all participants in discovering the intricacies of CLIL. As one of the participants explained “the material covered allowed me to think in a different way about how I approach learners – for me this is a measure of a good training!”
We hope that the meeting will facilitate further collaboration between teacher training programmes and schools.
